Happy 6th Birthday!!!

What a celebration for Dress a Girl NO. CA! After hearing about Dress a Girl Around the World six years ago, we started with a small group of ladies sewing around a kitchen table and grew to a huge outpouring of love for God's little kids today. We now sew at Bayside Church on the Roseville Campus as well as Citrus Heights, and other venues around Northern California.

As we've grown, we are now just "Sewing for God's Kids". We've incorporated Dress A Dude and Days for Girls into our monthly sew fests - these two ministries help little boys with tee-shirts and board shorts and young girls with personal hygiene kits.  Our monthly sewfests are a real tribute to the care and compassion of area sewists who want top make a difference in the lives of children around the world by using their sewing talents.

We had a great turnout at Bayside this past Saturday to celebrate our 6th birthday!

Such a great day to celebrate God's Kids. Don't miss out - our next sewfest Sewing for God's Kids is April 2 at Bayside Church's Roseville Campus, from 10:00 to 2:00 in Room 140 of the Adminsitration Bldg.

And sew on and sew on...

Welcome to our new Blog!

With so much happening at Dress a Girl No. CA, we decided it might be time to add a blog to our family.  So welcome to Dress a Girl No. CA.

Who we are:

We are a group of volunteers who meet regularly to sew pillowcase dresses for girls around the globe.  We are the Northern California arm of Dress a Girl Around the World, a worldwide campaign under Hope 4 Women International, a 501(c)3 organization.

Where and when we meet:

We meet once a month for "sew fests" from September though June at Bayside Church in Roseville, CA. Times and places are announced in our newsletters and on our Facebook page.

What we do:

We are women, men and young people who work together to make pillowcase dresses for impoverished girls in third world countries, as well as here in the U.S.  Volunteers bring their sewing machines, ironing boards, sewing tools and creativity to make our dresses.  Finished dresses are distributed to little girls through missionaries and others traveling abroad to visit villages, orphanages, etc. We also welcome "Dress a Dude" to our monthly sew fests - these volunteers make shorts for boys (we don't like them to be left out!)

What this blog will be about:

We will post our events and sew fests, photos of recent activities, articles on sewing techniques and anything else that might inspire you to join in the fun of being part of DAG No. CA. Most posts will be linked to our Facebook page, Dress a Girl No. CA.  So you can follow us everywhere.

Our blog administrator is Laurel, one of our regular volunteer sewists and contributors to our newsletter and Facebook page.

Sew Blessed,
The DAG NO. CA team
